Yet another great...

Fayetteville weekend. Great trip. Lots of fun.

Annual John /Chris Halloween party. Voodoo on the Bayou. Nice to see some of the old Tyson folks. It was an odd mix of people who still worked for Tyson and those who were either let go or left the company. Then...add into the mix a bunch or realtors and you've got a recipe for fun. Major props to Jess for throwing together some last-minute costumes for us. We were voodoo dolls. However...I don't have photos...

It's nice getting to see the changes in Fayetteville. The corner of Joyce and College is undergoing some changes and there are a bunch of new businesses. I didn't make it to Dixon Street so I cannot comment on the construction in that area.

It was great seeing everyone. Duley and Idiz came over which was unexpected but thoroughly enjoyable and too short. Lunch with Jess' grandparents and introduced them to the baby blog. Doubt they visit but it's bookmarked on their machine. Spent the rest of Saturday with the Condrays and Hortons. Beth looks tired. It's clear that pregnancy can wear you out. Still...she was upbeat and Peter is a rock for her. Little Sophia is still adorable (not that I expect that to pass any time soon). Had some good moments with her. She's a lot of fun. And...special thanks to our wonderful hosts...Nick and Sarah.

Will try to get back up there before the end of the year but we're making no promises. Thankfully a large contingent are coming to visit in December for the annual LR Christmas Party. Even Sophia is visiting but the party still has a strict non-baby policy...at least until Jess and I have one...then all bets are off. Bring on the little ones!

Get em while they're hot...

Jess has designed some cool adoption merchandise and shirts....

She thought it would be fun to put together some simple little designs that have Vietnamese translations of words like "aunt", "sister" and "grandmother," etc.

She's now the fine owner of a free storefront at http://www.cafepress.com/bringinghomebe where you can order your very own t-shirt, golf shirt, coffee cup, hat...or whatever.

Pics of a few designs appear in the above collage.

Each purchase makes you look good, stylish, and part of the proceeds help the adoption cause (specifically ours). Thanks.
Poor quality photo due to an older camera...
Time for a series of Halloween photos. This is from 2002. (I have hair!) Jess and I made our first appearance at the annual Halloween party hosted by our close friends in F'ville. Costumes are always required or else you're forced to wear whatever the host can find within reach. about. Jess and I went as Charlie Brown and Lucy. The poor quality of the photos this year mean that I won't be sharing any more from the 2002 event. However...I might make an exception for one of the freakiest clowns you'll ever see...(I'll noodle on it and may post it before Halloween.) Posted by Picasa

Weekend Fun

This weekend was filled to the brim with activity.

Friday was our first adventure in the 2nd Friday Arts Night in Little Rock.  We were out with Jen and Steve, drank some wine, ate some cookies, made a small purchase, and generally had a good time.  Can't wait for next month.

Saturday started with an early rise to head to Benton so I could watch a live English Premier League game at Tom's.  My team played to a draw but it was entertaining.  Then...lunch at Vanlang (our new favorite Vietnamese place) with Wes from F'ville and his buddy Tim.  Bloody good seeing Wes. We were too short on time this weekend to spend hours with Wes but at least we got to see him.

The afternoon and evening found posing for photos for our adoption application packet.  I hat posed shots.  You too can see them here: http://picasaweb.google.com/ken.a.myers.  Click on the Jessica link.  The photo shoot was worth it for the fire pit evening that happened after dark.  Hot bratwurst, smores, beer, and conversation make for a great evening.

Played soccer this afternoon (Sunday) and I am pleased to say that the Hangover Blues won yet again.  That puts us at 5-1 on the season.  Boy, it was a perfect soccer day too.  Chilly, but not cold.  Overcast and spitting rain.  Good times.

Finally, in preparation for an Octoberfest event in the office tomorrow, I made a Kekstorte.  It's a chocolate cookie cake.  I've not made this dish in probably 18 years.  I first made it for a foreign language competition in middle school or jr. high. Won first place in the German food category.  Not sure if the dish was so good or that it was one of the few non Black Forest cakes in competition.  Regardless...I'll take victory when I can get it.  Hope it goes over well at work tomorrow. (I'll see if I can get someone to snap a photo of it...in a pinch I'll use my phone.)

Jeckyl and Hyde

Both shots captured during the same play period. One had the unfortunate timing to make poor Vagabond appear as a ferocious beast. Something he most certainly is not. Though he does like to bark; as visitors to our home know well. Posted by Picasa
The very regal Vagabond.

Tomorrow I'll post a terrifying image of Vagabond. Posted by Picasa

These are my favorite things about older parks. It's a shame that newer parks don't generally include these. The best part was trying to crawl to the center and see if you could stand while it was spinning. Second best was hanging off the end and trying to spin in the air while only holding on with your hands. Fun! Posted by Picasa

Jurassic Mountainburg

City Park: Mountainburg, AR. 9/04/04

You can crawl through the interior (note the ladder) and it smells beyong bad. Perhaps close to the actual odor of a dinosaur? We'll never know. Posted by Picasa
