Big News

Time for a reasonably big announcement. You'll notice a couple of small changes to the site. I'll get to those.

Jess and I have decided to pursue international adoption. We're using Dillon International as our agency and have decided on Vietnam as the country of origin. This is the right decision for us and we ask for your patience and support as we make this trek over the next year. We're looking forward to the day next year when we can introduce our daughter to friends and family.

Jess has set up a separate blog as a journal for the adoption adventure: bringing home bé (according to a likely unreliable English to Vietnamese dictionary, bé means baby). There is a link along the side too. I'll have her set up an RSS feed real soon. The other item you see is the make a donation button. Adoptions are expensive, and while we don't really anticipate random donations, we figured it couldn't hurt to passively solicit gifts. That's all I'll say about that.

Naturally we're very excited. Right now we have no news other than the submission of our first set of paperwork to Dillon. We're awaiting the second batch.

That's it in a nutshell.

Surly

Apple picking.... Posted by Picasa
Special thanks to Annie...http://littlerockdailyphoto.blogspot.com/ for posting a link to this site on her Little Rock photo blog. I've taken a look at her site and the photos. She's got a good eye and an interesting sense of humor (based on the photos and her comments). Annie clearly has a love for Central Arkansas that I'm still trying to achieve. After six years in Northwest Arkansas I still think Little Rock pales in comparison. Hopefully my (now daily) visits to this LR photo blog will guide me towards a better appreciation for Central Arkansas.

Arkansas just beat Alabama in overtime in one ugly game. Neither team deserved to win, and I really feel for the 'Bama kicker.

Let me apologize for this next link...it's YouTube...but it made me smile...

Apple time?

Big weekend. Went to Fayetteville. Visited with lots of old friends. Great fun and also a little sad. We got to meet Sophia. Apple picking at Rom Orchards with Collin, Kat, Beth, Sarah, and Jessica. 19 pounds of apples! Fayetteville Farmer's Market. Mike Heaney (Vendor X)! Fayetteville Arts Festival. Ran into my old friends Jack and Rebecca. Duley and Idiz' anniversary party. Arkansas football (losing). Games with Steve and Jen. Babysitting Lukas (more on that tomorrow). Dogpark with Vagabond. Dinner and games at Bryan's.

Special thanks to Nick and Sarah for providing a place to lay our heads. It's truly a home away from home. Excellent hosts. If they ever want to give up making money they'd be great B&B owners.

It was as full a weekend as I've ever had but I'm emotionally and spiritually recharged. Ready to get back to work and start the soccer season.

I'm a very luck person to have all these magnificent people in my life.
